WoW Forever UI setup: UI scale, presets, default UI vs addons
Updated 2026-11-02
The quickest WoW Forever UI setup: pick the Enhanced preset, set your UI scale, arrange frames in Edit Mode, then add add-ons only for what still bothers you. Many players won't need a full UI add-on.
UI presets
On first login Forever asks for an experience preset. Blizzard's launch post lists what it changes:
| Classic | Enhanced | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen layout | Classic | Centralized |
| Quest objective areas | Off | On |
| One-bag inventory | Off | On |
| Movement keys | Turn the camera | Strafe |
You can change it later under Game Menu → Options. Blizzard recommends Enhanced if you're unsure. More in Classic or Enhanced for add-ons.
UI scale
Look for Use UI Scale in the game's graphics settings, and move the slider until text is readable without crowding the screen. We'll confirm exactly where Forever puts it on the live client. On a 1440p or 4K screen, the default often looks small. Set it before you arrange anything, because frames shift when the scale changes.
Edit Mode
Forever's client has Edit Mode: open it from the Game Menu and drag frames where you want them. Icy Veins reports that the built-in Cooldown Manager and damage meter are also placed there, which we'll confirm on live. For frames Edit Mode doesn't reach: MoveAny or Edit Mode Expanded.
Default UI vs addons
Stay with the default UI if you level solo, you like the look, and you'd rather not update anything.
Add a few add-ons when you start grouping:
- bars with stance or form pages: Bartender4 or Dominos
- readable enemy casts: Plater Nameplates
- healing frames: VuhDo or Grid2
Go for a full replacement like ElvUI if you want one look for everything. Our ElvUI vs a modular UI comparison and clean five-add-on setup cover the middle ground. Moving a layout between characters: UI setups.
