WoW Forever UI import: layout codes, Edit Mode and profile strings
Updated 2026-11-03
A "UI code" is a block of text you paste into the game or an add-on, and it comes in two kinds: Edit Mode layouts and add-on profile strings. They don't mix, so first work out which one you have.
We wrote this before launch and haven't imported anything on the live client yet. Button names may differ slightly.
Edit Mode layouts
These move the default frames and need no add-ons. Open Edit Mode from the Game Menu, then use the layout dropdown at the top of its window. That's where you create, share and import layouts.
- Before importing, save your current layout under a new name.
- Import the code and give it a name.
- Select it, then check your bars and frames.
We can't say yet whether a code from retail imports cleanly in Forever, because its frames may differ. If something lands in the wrong place, drag it and save. Set your UI scale first, because frames shift when it changes.
Add-on profile strings
These belong to one add-on and only load in it. An ElvUI string needs ElvUI, and a Plater Nameplates string needs Plater. Our UI setups page lists where each add-on keeps its import and export buttons.
Check these before pasting:
- Does the add-on have a Forever version? A WeakAuras string won't load, because WeakAuras has no Forever build.
- Who made the string? Plater strings can carry scripts that run code, so only use ones from people you trust.
- Have you exported your own first? Imports can replace your settings, so keep a copy to go back to.
Where people find them
We don't host strings, because we can't check them yet. Players share them on sites like wago.io and in author and guild Discords. Strings made for retail or Classic may load with gaps, like frames that don't exist in Forever.
