WoW Forever not showing up in CurseForge: what to check

If WoW Forever isn't showing up in CurseForge, update the app first, then check that the game is installed and that the app is pointed at the _forever_ folder. If that doesn't work, you can install add-ons by hand in about a minute.

We wrote this before launch and haven't tested it on the live game. App menus can change, so the wording may differ slightly.

What to check

  1. Is the game installed? The _forever_ folder only appears once the client is installed. In the Battle.net app, pick World of Warcraft: Forever in the version menu above Play. If install is greyed out, start there.
  2. Is the app up to date? Restart CurseForge and let it update. Support for a new game version often arrives through an app update.
  3. Is it looking in the right place? The default folder on Windows is C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_forever_. If you moved the game, here's how to find the folder.
  4. Are add-ons landing in retail? That's the most common mistake. Choose Forever in the app before you install anything.

Our CurseForge app guide goes through the setup step by step.

Add-on installed but not in the game?

  • Check that the add-on actually has a Forever version on our compatibility tracker.
  • On the character screen, open AddOns and see whether it's turned off or marked out of date.
  • Add-on folders have to sit directly in Interface\AddOns, not inside another folder.

Install by hand instead

Download the add-on from the author's page, unzip it and copy its folders into _forever_\Interface\AddOns. Then restart the game. The full steps are here. If you want a different app, compare them in the best addon manager.
