Best addon manager for WoW Forever: CurseForge, WowUp or Wago
Updated 2026-11-02
The best addon manager for WoW Forever is the CurseForge app for most players, because it's the one most authors and guides assume. Use WowUp if you also want add-ons published on GitHub. Whichever you pick, select the Forever installation before installing anything.

Why it matters which you pick
Add-on authors don't publish everywhere. In our directory, some Forever builds are on Wago or GitHub but not CurseForge, and the reverse. Each add-on's page lists where its official downloads are, so check your must-haves before you choose. ElvUI, for one, isn't on CurseForge at all.
Our pick
- New to add-ons: the CurseForge app. It's the one most guides assume, and "addons curse" is still how many players look for it.
- You use add-ons from GitHub: WowUp. Our directory has many Forever add-ons with GitHub releases.
- Most of your list is on Wago: the Wago app.
- A handful of add-ons: none. Installing by hand takes a minute per add-on.
Mistakes to avoid
- Leaving the manager on retail. Add-ons install fine, but in the wrong folder.
- Two managers on one folder. They disagree about what's installed.
- Updating with the game open. Close it first.
