Install WoW Forever add-ons with the CurseForge app

Updated 1 Nov 2026 · folder name _forever_ Reported until we confirm it on the live client

Steps

  1. Install the game first, so the _forever_ folder exists.
  2. Open the CurseForge app and choose World of Warcraft. Use the installation switcher to pick the Forever installation.
  3. If Forever isn't listed, add it in the app's settings for World of Warcraft by pointing it at your _forever_ folder.
  4. Search for an add-on and install it. Results follow the game version you picked, so with Forever selected you see Forever files.
  5. Use Update All after each game patch. Close the game before updating.

Common errors

Add-ons install but never show up in game

The app was still on retail or Classic. Switch to the Forever installation and install again; check _forever_/Interface/AddOns to confirm.

The app doesn't find my beta add-ons on live

Beta and live are separate folders. CurseForge's own guide says to copy Interface and WTF from the beta folder to the live one, then scan the folder in the app.

An add-on I want isn't listed for Forever

The author hasn't tagged a Forever file on CurseForge. Check our page for that add-on: it may have one on Wago or GitHub.
