Many players build their combat display with WeakAuras. At launch,
WeakAuras has no Forever build, so it won't load. TellMeWhen covers part of the same job and its latest release ships a Forever TOC. See also does WoW Forever have WeakAuras.
What TellMeWhen does
It shows icons for things you choose, and each icon can appear only when it matters, for example only when an ability is ready.
The limit you need to know
Forever appears to share retail's combat rules, and TellMeWhen's changelog spells out what that means: its original buff and debuff icons no longer work in combat, and newer icon types only cover part of that, such as spells Blizzard flags as never secret. Cooldown and aura visibility in combat can't be read, only displayed. Test each icon in a real fight before you rely on it.
A first setup
- Unlock it with
/tmwand add a group near the middle of your screen. - Add an icon for your most important cooldown, set to show when usable.
- Add one for a buff you keep up, then check in a real fight that it still updates.
- Lock it again and play a few fights before adding more.
Keep it small
Three to five icons cover most specs. More icons means more to read in a fight.
When WeakAuras arrives
If WeakAuras ships a Forever build, its page here will show it. You can keep TellMeWhen or move over; there's no need to run both for the same icons.
