Does WoW Forever have WeakAuras? No, not at launch
Updated 2026-11-02
No: WoW Forever does not have an official WeakAuras at launch. The add-on's own repository ships files for Vanilla, TBC, Wrath, Cata and Mists only, with none for Forever, and its Wago page lists no Forever release (checked 2 November).
Will WoW Forever have WeakAuras later
We found no statement from the WeakAuras team that names Forever, so this is our reading, not their announcement: don't plan on it.
The team stopped development for retail's Midnight because they consider its add-on rules fundamentally incompatible with WeakAuras, as reported by Icy Veins. Forever appears to use those same rules. Blizzard hasn't published a Forever-specific post that we could find, but authors who build for it say so: Threat Plates' changelog names "WoW Midnight and WoW Forever" together when it disables features that rely on secret threat values.
Blizzard's Midnight post explains the rule: combat information can be displayed by add-ons, but they can't read it or make decisions from it. WeakAuras is built on exactly that kind of reading.
The unofficial forks
Three community projects try anyway. None is made or supported by the WeakAuras team, and we haven't tested them:
- ForeverAuras describes itself as early development and warns of errors, especially in combat.
- EverAuras hands the display to the game instead of reading secret values.
- WeakAurasForever calls itself experimental.
Don't expect retail WeakAuras strings to work in any of them without changes, and don't take their bugs to the WeakAuras team.
What to use instead
- The game's own tools. Icy Veins reports that Forever includes a Cooldown Manager (
/cdm, positioned in Edit Mode), a damage meter and a swing timer. We'll confirm these on the live client. - TellMeWhen has a Forever release, but its changelog is clear about the limits: its original buff and debuff icons don't work in combat under these rules, and newer icon types work around that for some spells.
- Boss alerts: Deadly Boss Mods (DBM) or BigWigs Bossmods.
- Debuffs on enemies: Plater Nameplates restyles what the game shows on nameplates.
By class
No class has a straight WeakAuras replacement, so start with the Cooldown Manager and the picks on your class page: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Druid.
Rogues, one player-reported catch: a forum thread says Forever treats combo points as secret, which would stop add-ons tracking them. Check for yourself on live before you build a setup around it.
We update the WeakAuras page if a Forever release appears.
