Shortest Path Forever is an add-on made for WoW Forever. Pick a spot on the map and it plans the fastest way there, mixing walking, flight paths, boats, zeppelins, lifts, the tram and portals. It's updated often: there were two releases on 5 November alone, up to v1.22.33. See its add-on page for our latest check.

Install

It's on CurseForge, Wago and GitHub. To install by hand, unzip it into _forever_/Interface/AddOns so you end up with AddOns/ShortestPathForever/ShortestPathForever.toc. Our install guide has the folder paths.

Use it

  • Shift-click the world map or minimap to plan a route to that spot.
  • Pick a quest and use its route option to go to that quest.
  • Type /way 50 50 Name for coordinates. It reads waypoints written the same way as TomTom's.
  • Type /path for the settings.

The steps show in your objective tracker, with time and distance left. It replans as you move, and warns you before your boat or zeppelin arrives.

Things it does that other map add-ons don't

  • Boat and zeppelin times. Dock tooltips show where each boat goes and when it leaves. That helps with Forever's boat and zeppelin routes.
  • Corpse runs. As a ghost, it draws a red route back to your body.
  • Mage portals. An opt-in setting, added in v1.22.33, suggests asking a mage in your group for a portal to a capital when that's faster.
  • Nearby services. Trainers, repairs, inns, banks and flight masters from the map's tracking menu. This needs QuestieDB installed.

Good to pair it with

  • Questie: Alt-click a Questie icon on the map to route to it.
  • TomTom: with TomTom installed, Shortest Path can follow its arrow.
  • Azeroth Pilot Reloaded or another levelling guide, for what to do once you get there.
