ElvUI in WoW Forever: does it work, beta vs live, profile import

Updated 2026-11-02

Yes, ElvUI works in WoW Forever: version 16.00 (13 October 2026) added initial support, according to its official changelog. "Initial" is the team's word, so expect fixes during launch month.

Where to get it

ElvUI isn't on CurseForge. Get it from tukui.org or its GitHub. The zip holds several folders: copy all of them into _forever_/Interface/AddOns.

ElvUI on the beta vs live

It's the same add-on, and there's no separate beta edition to replace. If you played the beta, update to the newest version and carry your settings over as in moving a beta UI to live. We can't test ElvUI on the live client until launch, so we'll update its page on launch night.

ElvUI profile import

Profiles are text strings, and this is what "wow forever elvui profile" searches usually want.

  1. Export your current profile first: /ec, then Profiles. Paste the text somewhere safe.
  2. Create a new profile, so your old one stays untouched.
  3. Use Import Profile and paste the string.
  4. /reload and check each part of the screen.

A retail string can load in Forever, but expect gaps: frames that don't exist here and plugins you don't have. Only import strings from people you trust. More in UI setups. We don't host strings ourselves.

Good to know

  • The 16.00 changelog says gamepads aren't supported yet.
  • Blizzard's combat rules limit what any UI add-on can read in a fight. Moving and restyling frames stays allowed, per Blizzard's post, written for Midnight.
  • When an update breaks something, disable plugins first: they often lag behind ElvUI.

Prefer not to replace everything at once: ElvUI vs a modular UI.
