WoW Forever addons download: where to get them safely
Updated 2026-11-03
Download WoW Forever add-ons from the author's own page: CurseForge, Wago, GitHub releases or the author's site. Every page in our directory links to those official pages. We never host add-on files ourselves.
We wrote this before launch. Site and app menus can change, so some labels may differ.
The main places
- CurseForge is what older guides call "Curse". It has a website and an app. Look for files marked for Forever.
- Wago Addons also has both. Many authors publish there as well, and some only there.
- GitHub suits smaller projects. Use the files under Releases. The green "Code → Download ZIP" button gives you source code with the wrong folder name and often no libraries.
- The author's own site, for a few big projects. ElvUI comes from tukui.org or its GitHub, not CurseForge.
Getting the Forever file
An add-on page can hold files for retail, Classic and Forever side by side. The newest file isn't always yours.
- Check the compatibility tracker or the add-on's page here, which says whether a Forever version exists.
- On the download page, pick the file marked for Forever. Some carry "forever" in the file name.
- Put it in
_forever_/Interface/AddOns, as the folder guide explains.
If the author has no Forever file, a retail file may or may not load. Load out of date AddOns explains that stopgap.
What to avoid
- An
.exeor an installer. Add-ons are folders of text files. - Anything that asks for payment to unlock in-game features.
- Reuploads. A project named after a popular add-on may come from someone else, so compare the author with the one on the original project's page.
- Download sites that rank well in search but aren't the author's page.
App or by hand
An app saves time once you have more than a few add-ons, because it handles updates. By hand works fine and takes about a minute. See which add-on manager to use and the install guide.
