WoW Forever settings to change first, and add-ons that help

Updated 2026-11-03

Before you play WoW Forever, check four things: your experience preset, movement keys, UI scale and whether add-ons are allowed to load. Everything else can wait until something bothers you.

We wrote this before launch, so menu names may differ. We'll add graphics advice once we've tried the live client.

The first four

  1. Experience preset. Forever asks on first login, and you can change it later under Game Menu → Options. Per Blizzard's launch post, Enhanced turns on the centred layout, quest objective areas and the one-bag inventory. See Classic or Enhanced.
  2. Movement keys. The same post says Classic keeps the keys that turn the camera, while Enhanced makes them strafe. If you've played retail or Classic for years, make sure it matches your habits before your first fight.
  3. UI scale. Set it before moving any frames, because they shift when it changes. The UI setup guide covers it.
  4. Add-ons. On the character screen, open AddOns and tick the ones you want. Load out of date AddOns explains the box you may need in the first days.

Add-ons for more settings

  • Leatrix Plus puts many small options in one panel, such as faster looting and automatic quest handling. Turn on one or two at a time, so you know what changed.
  • Advanced Interface Options brings back interface options that were removed from the normal menus.
  • PeaversScaler scales the whole UI, with resolution presets and a slider.
  • MoveAny and Edit Mode Expanded cover frames Edit Mode doesn't reach.

All of these ship a Forever version as of early November. We haven't tried them on the live client.

If settings don't stick

Settings should survive a restart. If they don't, read add-on settings not saving. Exit the game normally rather than force-closing it, and back up your settings folder once you're happy with your setup.
