Threat Plates works in WoW Forever. Version 13.3.5 (1 November) is packaged for it, but two parts of the threat widget are turned off there: threat delta and tank value. Its changelog says they can't work because threat values are secret to add-ons on Forever and Midnight. See its add-on page for the current status.

What 13.3.5 changed for Forever

  • Turned off: the threat delta and tank value types of the threat widget.
  • Fixed: the resource widget wasn't showing on Forever.
  • Back on: the Metric Unit Symbols option for number formatting.

The changelog doesn't list threat colours (nameplates turning red when you pull aggro) as affected. We'll check them on the live client. Tell us in the forum if they behave oddly for you.

Why threat numbers are hidden

Forever uses the retail client's add-on rules. Add-ons can show some combat information but can't read or compare it. Our API notes explain these "secret values" and list other add-ons they affect.

Setup

  1. Type /tptp to open the options.
  2. Set your role with /tptptank or /tptpdps. It decides which threat situation gets highlighted.
  3. Under the threat options, choose colour, scale or transparency changes.

Tanks who relied on exact threat numbers will feel the change most. Showing who has aggro is still possible with colours, but measuring how close you are isn't.

Alternatives

Plater has a Forever release and its own threat colouring. Kui Nameplates had no Forever file when we checked. Compare them in best nameplate add-ons, and see best tank add-ons if you tank.
