WoW Forever's gamepad settings are in Options, under Gameplay and then Gamepad. That's where Blizzard's gamepad guide points you to turn it on. The guide doesn't describe turning it off, so look for the same switch there to disable it. Blizzard calls gamepad support a beta feature, with more improvements to come.

If you use Xpadder, Steam Input or another mapper

Unverified. A player asks how to turn off the game's controller support while keeping a controller plugged in, because they map it with Xpadder. If the game's own gamepad mode and your mapper both read the controller, you can get two actions per press. Turn the game's gamepad mode off first. If it still reacts, unplug the controller before you start the game, then plug it back in once you're in.

Known gamepad issues

Blizzard's Known Issues list lists two:

  • An error when deleting more than one rare or epic item with a gamepad.
  • Push-to-talk keyboard instructions showing when you join a voice channel.

Add-ons for playing on a controller

  • Easy Controller - Forever: a chat keyboard that predicts words, extra functions for back paddles and spare buttons, and protection against selling quest items.
  • Improved Forever: wheels, touchpad, vibration and button overrides. It's at an early version number.
  • KeyUI: draws your keyboard, mouse and controller bindings so you can see what's where.

Levelling guides can work on a gamepad too. Azeroth Pilot Reloaded has a gamepad menu.
